It’s the day before Election Day and I probably should have written this sooner but better late than never, right? There have been a ton of people who are saying that because they can’t stomach either candidate they are just going to sit this one out and not vote at all rather than vote for someone that they feel isn’t truly qualified to lead our country. Well, to this I say, what a complete sanctimonious wuss bag cop out! Here’s how it works, it’s like a college exam question; you pick the best possible answer out of those provided, or the MOST correct from another perspective. If you decide that none of the answers meet your bar of correctness and don’t answer the question, you get it WRONG! Furthermore, in an election, if you don’t vote and someone you despise is elected, you actually did your part in electing them by NOT casting an opposing ballot for the next best option. So as Rush (the band) so eloquently put it, “if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice!” So for all of you fence sitters out there let’s break it down and take a logical look at the options before the people (P.S. there are only two):
Donald J. Trump – not a great public speaker or debater and prone to hyperbole and overuse of superlatives on a scale the likes of which no one has ever seen. He is a New Yorker which means I don’t like him already. He isn’t a politician so he doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut and has done more damage to himself than his opponents have done to him. However the fact that he isn’t a politician has been his appeal to those who support him. Liberals have tried to paint him as a bigot, racist, misogynist, elitist, and everything else they could think of but the fact of the matter is for the past 50 years of his adult life he was the darling of the Democratic party and none of those accusations were ever raised until he ran on the Republican ticket. Furthermore, he has 2 or 3 ex-wives that he has good enough relationships with that none of them came forward to capitalize on this historic opportunity to make millions airing dirty laundry. That in and of itself is amazing. He does have a keen sense for negotiating and understands how economic and tax policies effect businesses which I think has been missing from Washington.
Hillary R. Clinton – a career politician and debater she is always prepared and knows what to expect. She easily outmaneuvered Trump in the debates but wasn’t necessarily prepared for his cavalier approach at times due to lack of experience. She has been dogged by scandals throughout her 30+ years in Washington and is currently under FBI investigation for mishandling classified information. We know for a fact she lied to the American people about the cause of the attack in Benghazi, probably to delay the truth getting out to secure the re-election of Obama and her appointment to SoS. She represents more government intervention in the lives of ordinary citizens and more taxes to pay for it. She has taken both sides of almost every major issue over the years to win elections depending on which way public sentiment was leaning so her own true conviction remains unclear after all this time.
The fact is, this election isn’t about either of these unqualified candidates. The American people need to choose whether or not they want more government and more taxes or less government and fewer taxes. Our country was founded upon the ideas and the principles of the latter. However, as more people flee to this country, not because they want to ass
imilate to our way of life, but because they want to get away from war or famine, and bring their more oppressive government controlled lifestyles with them, the population slowly shifts towards more government control. We need to remember who we are and why we founded this country in the first place. So tomorrow, don’t vote for a candidate, vote for a way of life, because that is literally what is on the line this time. Whatever you do, just VOTE.
By the way, trying to ease your conscience with a 3rd party or write in vote is almost as bad because you know only one of two people will win tomorrow. It’s a coward’s way out no matter how you try to rationalize it. (You are right about it making a statement though; it’s just that the statement it makes is that you’re an idiot.)
